WHY WOULD YOU RACE THIS HORSE?
Redoute's Choice is a record-breaking sire of sires and his success and reputation has only been enhanced by Ardrossan who has very swiftly established himself as one of New Zealand's young-gun stallions. With more than 15% stakes performers from his first two crops of racing age, he is one that will keep climbing up the Australasian stallion ranks along with an increase in service fee and yearling price.
We were keen to try and get our hands on one of his best yearlings before they graduate to another level of the market. Lot 87 is a beautifully balanced filly with a lot of class, quality and presence. She has the same shape and physique of the good Redoute's Choice fillies that dominated our two and three-year-old fillies races for so many seasons.
Not only is she by a sire that we have great belief in, she is also from a very deep Kiwi female family featuring three of our best broodmare sires - Savabeel, Pins & O'Reilly. Considering she is bred on the same cross as Saltcoats, one of Ardrossan's best, I thought we might have to stretch further than $200,000 to buy her.
I take great confidence in buying from the good farms and Elsdon Park are one of the best operators in the industry. The progressive Hezdarnhottoo is another graduate from this draft at this sale and I see her as a filly with a similar profile but expect she might stretch out in trip to 1600m and further to target the fillies Guineas races in her three-year-old season.
